Before I get into today's post, I would like to thank all of you who left such amazing comments on my views about blogging post. I've read each and every one a couple of times and I can't believe all of them have been so positive and supportive. You're the best 🖤
Now onto the actual post.
When I started this blog at the end of 2012, I did it all because of me. I was writing it because of me, I was choosing the topics that I liked and I was doing it all in the way that I liked.
Of course my ''style'' (if you could even say it like that) changed since then and I would also love to think that it improved over the years, but the reason why I was doing it changed a bit too.
In these past years (especially in the last year or two) the blogging community in Slovenia really grew and it started getting more & more attention from everyone, especially from brands.
Although that's not necessarily a bad thing, it sure did put a bit more pressure on everything and everyone. Or maybe I was the one seeing it in that way and putting pressure on myself.
Somewhere between that pressure, the PR packages, talk about making money from your blog and everything else I already mentioned in my post about my views on blogging, I kinda lost myself.
I forgot about why I even started with this blog, how it was back then and that none of my life goals include being a ''professional''/ full-time blogger (not that there's anything wrong with that).
I was never planning on taking a six months hiatus from blogging, but a lot has happened and the more I was thinking about everything, the more unsure I was about what to do with this space. I was actually planning on coming back sooner, quite a few times actually, but every time I came close to doing that, something happened that prevented me from going through with it. At some point I even came really close to giving up and for awhile I was sure that the answer to solve my ''dilemma'' with blogging was to just delete this blog and leave everything behind me. But now I know that if I did that, I would definitely regret it, and that the actual solution was only taking a step back and re-thinking about why & how it all started.
So this year, I'm taking Sparkle With Laughter back to the time when I was doing it for me and just how I liked it.
I'm going to step away from doing things just because they seem to be ''the norme'' today or doing them in a way that's considered to be the ''right'' way. I'm going to step away from thinking about my views, comments, followers, etc. And I'm going to post new content just because & in a way that makes me happy and brings me joy.
Basically what I'm trying to say, is that I'm planning on taking more of a relaxed approach to blogging since I have no intention of turning it into something that bring me an income. Blogging was, still is, and will remain ''only'' as a hobby of mine. If you like that idea / if you like reading my thoughts and opinions even though I'm not planning on having amazingly set up & edited photos with the whitest background, or amazing make-up looks, etc, I hope you'll stick & chat with me in this upcoming year too. And if you're leaning toward something more professionally set up, well that's okay too. There are a lot of blogs like that out there, including some amazing Slovene ones.
You probably noticed that I've changed up my template while I was on my hiatus and I'm most likely going to be changing it up again sometime in the near future (I'm not sure if I still like it, tell me what do you think about it). I've also finally came around to purchasing my own domene, which was on my to-do list for years!
A few other changes include a different ''schedule'', although I'm not putting any pressure on myself regarding sticking to it so I won't even mention it as of now. I will let you know though that I'm mainly planning on sticking to a similar theme; beauty post during the week and lifestyle ones during the weekend. I'm also going to introduce a new series (probably even more if I came up with any new ideas) called Mailbox Monday where I'm only going to talk about the products that were sent to me. This doesn't mean that those products won't be featured in ''regular'' posts, but if I'll want to specifically review a product that was sent to me, I'll do that within the Mailbox Monday. This also doesn't mean that this series is going to be up every Monday.
I'm also planning on being a bit more active on my Facebook page and two things that I'm planning on doing regularly are a monthly makeup switch (I'll create an album where I'm going to show you which makeup products I'll be switching up/trying to wear more each month) and Sunday love ''series'' where each Sunday I'll share one blog post that I liked the most from that week.
I'm also planning on using Instagram stories (you can follow me here) more for ''blogging purposes'', which I've been already kinda doing - meaning that I'll post more MOTD's, swatches, hauls, random bits & clips. At first I was thinking about doing that on Snapchat, but I realised that I prefer having that one for more ''personal use''.
I think that's about everything that I wanted to share. This is where I currently am when it comes to blogging and especially when it comes to Sparkle With Laughter. Who knows, maybe I'll change my mind completely somewhere along the road, but if I do, you'll definitely know it.
