I think I already mentioned this awhile back, but I'm definitely someone who enjoys removing make-up more than putting it on. I never sleep with make-up on & I never did, no matter how late I came home or in what state (when I wasn't a self-proclaimed Grandma yet), I always made sure to remove my make-up and apply some face moisturiser.
When I was planning my monthly favourites I've noticed that I wanted to include a lot of skin-care products - some that I've been using for a really long time, some that I already talked about and some that I've been ''only'' using for a few months. And all of them have something in common - my skin loves them and I'm really happy with how my skin looks the majority of time. So why not share these products with you. This is also the second time I'm writing this, cause I somehow managed to delete everything when I wanted to post it on Thursday.
(125 ml; 4,59€) really surprised me in a good way. I wasn't a fan of their micellar water, but this one is a completely different story.
What does it claim: Perfectly removes all traces of eye make-up. The refreshing gel texture hydrates and soothes with a gentle action that is suitable for sensitive skin. Hypo-allergenic, no fragrance, no alcohol.
My opinion: Firstly, I don't only use it for removing eye make-up, but for cleaning my whole face. The consistency is very runny & light and the gel texture truly does feels somewhat hydrating and soothing on the skin. It has a light, fresh scent, but nothing really fragranced. I would definitely agree that it's suitable for sensitive skin, cause I haven't experienced any irritation, redness, dryness, tightness, etc. on my skin or with my eyes. This is a big thing for me, since my cheeks & especially my eyes are very sensitive. A little goes a long way with it when it comes to removing the make-up, I think it's due to the runny consistency. It removes make-up effortlessly, even the hardcore mascaras like the Lancome & Maybelline ones. My preferred way of using it is on days when I'm not wearing a lot of make-up for longer periods of time (for that I prefer oil/balm cleanser cause they really relax me), as a second cleanser on its own or with Olay Regenerist 3 Point Super Cleansing System. I also really like the sleek & simple packaging.
Soap & Glory Scrub your nose in it special pore refining formula AHA face scrub (100 ml; 10,53€) has been my trusty face scrub for a really long time now and I wanted to talk about it once more before I ran out of it.
What does it claim: Formulated with Soap & Glory's exclusive, deep pore detoxing D-CLOG MICROMUD - a super clarifying, triple action, diatomaceous earth mix - it helps to exfoliate, clean and purify the skin, lifts away pore-clogging dead skin cells, soak up excess oils and stimulate fresh oxygen to your face (source). For oily/combination skin.
My opinion: Once again, I use this on my entire face and not only on my T-zone like it says on the packaging, since I don't find it to be too harsh for my cheeks. It has a mint green texture that comes out fairly thick, but it turns to a very light consistency once you rub it in. It has a lot of micro-particulars, that aren't very harsh, but they still do an amazing job at exfoliating. I use it twice a week, whenever I'm washing my hair, I apply a very small amount (this will seriously lasts you for months & months) on a damp face in circular motions (like it says you should) after I apply the conditioner to my hair and wait for about 2 minutes before I rinse both of them off. I'm left with a very clean & radiant skin, cleaner & tighter pores and no dry patches. I also noticed that my skin feels a lot smoother since I started using it and it also helped with those tiny bumps. I haven't experienced any irritations with this one either and I also noticed that it helps with break-outs. Every time I'm extremely impressed by a product, I do a test when I stop using it for awhile and I did the same thing with this one. I've noticed that my pores looked a lot more prominent & congested and my skin looked a lot more dull. This is definitely my favourite face scrub to this date, however I do think it would probably be a bit too intense for everyone that has a very dry skin (unless you would only use it on your T-zone).
Estée Lauder Perfectly Clean multi-action foam cleanser/purifying mask (30 ml, a sample from their Stay Young. Start Now. Your age prevention solutions set - 29,45€) is a product I only started using recently although I bought this set back in last July.
What does it claim: The creamy formula rapidly lathers into a rich foaming cleanser that gently removes make-up and other impurities without drying. Unclogs pores. Leaves skin healthy, fresh and luminous. Use it 2 ways: morning and night as a daily cleanser to purify skin. Or twice a week as a 3-minute purifying mask (source).
My opinion: I don't really like using this as a cleanser for two reasons: it says you should avoid eye area and I much prefer using cleansers that can be used on your face as well as on your eyes, and because it's only a sample size so I would use it up really quickly if I used it as a daily cleanser. But it works wonderfully as a mask. It promises a healthy, fresh, luminous skin with unclogged pores and that's exactly what it gives you. Your skin literally looks like you just had an amazing facial - very brighten, a lot smoother, tighter/polished and squeaky clean, and it also works miracles around that time of the month with hormonal break-outs. It has a very creamy, lightweight and rich consistency with a strong floral scent. It's very easy to spread as a mask, and it also lathers very easily as a cleanser. Definitely a product for those pampering evenings or before any special events, although I would, once again, skip it if you have very dry skin, unless you'll apply a hardcore moisturiser/oil after it.
Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair synchronized recovery complex II (7 ml sample from the same set) is a product I really hoped would turn out to be one of those over-hyped products.
What does it claim: Advanced with exclusive repair technology, it is proven to significantly reduce major signs of visible ageing. So effective, this powerful recovery complex supports the natural synchronizations of skin's nighttime repair process. Take advantage of the restorative power of night and see your skin look smoother, younger, more radiant.
My opinion: OH MY GOD, I'm almost certain this has to be some sort of a witchcraft/ a miracle in the bottle. It fixes any of my skin problems OVER NIGHT! Redness, dullness, break-outs, dry patches, very oily skin, you name it - this fixes that for me. I use it whenever I feel like my skin isn't looking its best and I always wake up with amazing skin that's very plump, radiant and smooth. I use it extremely sparingly, literally the smallest amount that covers my face, and I make sure I tap it in really well & only when my skin really gets out of control, cause I don't want to use it up just yet. It has a bit of a weird, herbal scent, but luckily it isn't very strong. It also has a very creamy yet light consistency with a slight yellowish tint that sinks into the skin almost immediately. It's extremely expensive, so I'm kinda dreading the day I'll use it up completely cause I know I'll have to repurchase it asap. This is definitely a product I don't see myself being without any more.
4 kids and us Dnevna pomlajevalna krema (Daily rejuvenating cream, 50 ml; 49,90€) is a product that isn't just worth mentioning due to the results it gives, but also due to the inspiring story behind the brand itself. You can read all about it here, but a short summary for all non-Slovenian readers is that a mum & a dad started making their own soaps & creams because their four children have a very sensitive skin and they started expending from that on. All of their products are natural, they have Aromacert sign, without any konzervans, parabens, etc. They're also getting more & more recognised which really makes me happy, cause they definitely deserve it.
What does it claim: Helps to maintain a fresh & youthful look, prevents early signs of ageing, reduces wrinkles, maintains elasticity, plumpness & hydration of the skin. Due to its soft & non-greasy texture it also works well under make-up.
My opinion: I'm just going to put it out there - I love everything about it! It has a very minimalistic packaging and a herbal scent that isn't overpowering. The texture truly is very soft, creamy and rich, but not greasy. If you have dry to normal skin, you could definitely wear this under make-up, since it does create almost a blurred out effect on your skin. Since my skin is more on the combination to oily side, I find it a bit too rich for under make-up, but I'm putting it on like a crazy person at night-time. I'm extremely paranoid about wrinkles and I constantly talk about getting botox & fillers, although my mum thinks I'm crazy & everyone else think I'm joking. But before I get that, I definitely want to try out some alternatives and after reading Tamara's review (here), I knew this was the one to try. I've been using this for about four months now and I'm blown away with the results. My skin actually looks a lot plumper, tighter and I definitely noticed that some wrinkles & lines are way lass obvious - especially those on my neck. I find the cream to be very nourishing, it helps with any dry patches that I get from time to time and it feels really amazing on the skin. It makes it very smooth & soft, almost velvet like. I did the same thing as with the Soap & Glory scrub - I stopped using it for awhile, and I definitely noticed that my skin didn't look so tight & plump any more, and the lines started to get more obvious once again. I think I found my perfect night-time moisturiser with this cream and I'll definitely be repurchasing it, as soon as I use up some other creams in my stash. Although it's not the cheapest moisturiser out there, I definitely think it's worth the money - not only does it deliver amazing results when it comes to first signs of ageing, fine lines & the look and feel of the skin in general, but also because of the whole story & concepts behind the 4 kids and us brand.
Estée Lauder DayWear advanced multi-protection anti-oxidant cream SPF 15 (15 ml sample from the same set as mentioned above) is actually a very decent-sized sample.
What does it claim: This high-performance moisturiser defends against signs of premature ageing - and diminishes their appearance - with the most effective anti-oxidant power ever. It reduces the first signs of ageing, like dullness and fine, dry lines. Refreshes skin with lasting hydration (source).
My opinion: This one has a very fresh, almost cucumber-like scent and a slight greenish tint. It doesn't say so, but I can actually notice a small difference when it comes to the redness on my cheeks when I use it. It has a semi-thick & slippery texture that glides over the skin like a dream. The one that I have is for normal/combination skin, but they also have one for dry skin. This one definitely isn't for someone with very oily skin, as it doesn't actually mattifies your skin or sink it completely - in the meaning that I can feel a difference whenever I'm wearing this under make-up to when I'm not & in a good way. I would say that this is a very hydrating cream, which scared me at first, but I don't find it to be greasy. I can wear it under my make-up without any problems, and I don't get very oily throughout the day. I actually think that my face looks a lot less shiny when I use this compared to when I don't, and it also prolongs the wear of make-up. Since it does have a slightly slippery texture, it's an amazing base for make-up, the foundation just glides over it and even if I have some dry patches, this helps to prevent the foundation to cling on them. If this is in your budget-range, it's definitely worth picking up.
Avon Nutra Effects Active seed complex Hydration gel-cream* (50 ml; 5,90€) I already did a whole review on this cream (here), so I won't talk much about it now. But I had to include it, cause this is my go-to moisturiser for days when I'm not wearing make-up. I'm completely obsessed with the jelly-like texture that feels very cooling & refreshing on the skin. It gives your skin a satin finish yet it's very hydrating, which makes it a great all-rounder. I'm almost out of it, and I'll probably be repurchasing it in the future as well, although I have to try out some other creams in my stash first.
Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye synchronized recovery complex 11 (5 ml, sample from the same set) is another decent sized sample, since I still have around half of it & been using it for around two months now.
What does it claim: Dramatically reduces the look of every visible sign of ageing around the fragile eye area - the lines, wrinkles, puffiness, dark circles, dryness and uneven skintone. Keeps the entire eye area looking radiant, rested and silky smooth.
My opinion: This is another outstanding product and the eye cream that delivered the best results when it comes to my dark circles so far. I definitely noticed that they started looking a lot less prominent after some time, although they're of course still here. It also helps with dryness and puffiness, and it makes your eye area look a lot plumper. So far I haven't noticed any major changes when it comes to fine lines though. It has a similar scent to the serum, although it smells a bit fresher. It has a creamy, gel-like consistency that feels a bit cooling on the face. It also works under make-up, since it's very light & sinks in quickly.
