Make-Up Collection & Graveyard: Base Products

Thursday, November 12, 2015

Hello ladies,
I was planning on posting a review of the Eucerin Hyaluron Filler CC Cream today, but the photos didn't turn out as I wanted to, so I'm here with a back up post.
Back in September I was itching to re-organise my make-up collection and I got this idea that it would be fun to take photos of everything and show you what I'm keeping and what I'm either throwing away or finding it a new home. That way I could kill two birds with one stone: showing you my make-up collection and doing a make-up graveyard series. Since then I did get some new things (especially due to the unreal Beautiful Bloggers Meet Up goody bags), but maybe I'll do an updated version sometime in the future.
When I actually saw all the photos and the products I kinda changed my mind as I didn't really wanted to be judged, but since we're all make-up lovers here (otherwise I'm really not sure why you would want to read my blog), I'm hoping my fear was irrational.

I'm not a fan of these disclaimers but here we go:
I'm sure some of you have more make-up than me, but I'm also sure some of you don't. Either way please keep in mind that this is something I love, something I choose to spend my money on, and that being a beauty blogger means that you buy a lot more products that you probably would otherwise, and that you also get sent things to review. I'm not trying to brag or show off in any shape or form, and all the products that were sent to me will be marked with *.
So now let's dive in, today I'll be showing you my base products: everything from foundations, concealers, setting powders and face primers.

Although I'm not a foundation gal, I sure do have a nice selection, although to be fair, the majority of them aren't technically proper foundations.
First up is the Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream for oily / combination skin in light / clair that used to be my obsession. Since then I found two better ones and I'm still in the process of using it up. Here's a review.
The two better ones that I found and that I'm completely in love with are the L'Occitane Pivoine Sublime Skin Perfecting CC Cream* in clair / light (review) and the Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream in 31 Ivory (review). The L'Occitane one is usually my go-to base for day to day wear and the Bourjois one I tend to wear on days when I want a bit more ''coverage'' and on ''special occasions''. Both of them look just like your skin, but better.
In Summer, I was mainly only wearing concealer under my eyes, but if I wanted something more I always went for the Nivea BB Cream 5in1 Beautifying Moisturizer for blemish prone skin* (review). It claims to adapt to every skin tone and I think it does a decent job at that as it works for me when I'm pale and when I had a tan (it only might be too dark for someone paler than me). It has the least coverage of the bunch and it's great for those no make-up make-up days.
The only proper foundation that I decided to keep is the L'Oreal True Match in R2-C2 Rose Vanilla (mentioned here) and to be fair, I could do without it as I haven't used it in a really long time.

The two foundations that I decided to part way with are the MeMeMe Flawless Finish Cream Foundation*in 02 Beige Blush (review) that had a lovely finish, but was too dark for me, and the Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream for oily / combination skin in medium (mentioned here). The first one found a new home with my cousin, and the second one needed to be thrown away a long time ago.

As far as setting powders and face primers are concerned, I decided to keep all of them.
I have three setting powders: MeMeMe Flawless Loose Powder* in translucent (review), Essence All About Matt! fixing loose powder in translucent (discontinued, but mentioned here) and my favourite one the Catrice Prime and Fine Mattifying waterproof powder in translucent (mentioned here).
The Max Factor Face Finity All Day Primer (mentioned here) is the one that I actually use and love, but I decided to keep the L'Oreal Skin Perfection Magic Touch Instant Blur (review) for times when I want my pores to really be completely invisible.

Now concealers are one of my weaknesses: I love buying them and I love trying new ones although I already found my holy grail - NARS Radiant Cream Concealer in Light 2 Vanilla (mentioned here). What can I say, it's everything I've ever wanted in a concealer.
But that doesn't stop me for owning a few more. The IQ Cosmetics Pure Perfection Concealer Kit is something I'm still playing around with, but will definitely get a full review at some point.
Maybelline Fit Me in 15 Fair is my favourite drugstore concealer and in the meantime I already managed to finish one from the two on the photo. The other Maybelline concealer that I have is the Instant Anti-Age The Eraser Eye Perfect & Cover that I'm trying to use up. Although I lot of bloggers swear by it, I'm not the biggest fan as it doesn't have enough coverage for me and tends to crease if I don't set it very well. Both of them are reviewed here.
Some say that the Collection Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Concealer in 1 fair is a dupe for the NARS one. I wouldn't agree, but they are quite similar (mentioned here). One of the main reasons why I prefer the Maybelline one to this one, as far as drugstore concealers go, is that the Collection one is quite drying and heavier.
I don't really use the L'Oreal Lumi Magique highlighting pen in 2 medium as a concealer, but I do use it to brighten up my under eye area when I'm putting a bit more effort into my make-up or when my dark circles are out of this world. It does an amazing job at highlighting and brightening, and it's very lightweight. If you don't have dark circles and just want something to brighten up your under eye area, your would love this. And the last one from the keeping bunch is the MeMeMe Correct & Perfect Concealer Kit* in Buff (review).

The one that I threw away is the Catrice Camouflage Cream in 010 Ivory (mentioned here). I used to love it, but it got way too heavy for my liking and also kinda gross-looking.

Let me know if you would like to see the rest of my make-up collection / graveyard.

Sanja ♥

*The products marked with * were given to me. I didn't buy them with my money. But that didn't and won't ever affect my opinion about the products in any way. The review is based on my personal experience with the product.*
