What do the contents of your handbag say about you?

Monday, October 19, 2015

Hello ladies,
if you don't follow me on Twitter or Instagram (which you should cause I post a lot of random things there) you probably won't know that I'm currently quite sick. Because of that I'm supposed to stay inside as much as possible which means that I'm not wearing any make-up and I don't even have the energy to do otherwise.
But I didn't really want to leave another week blog-less, so I decided to do a 'what's in my handbag' post. These are still one of my favourite posts to read or Youtube videos to watch and it has been two/three years since I've done one (you can see the previous two here and here - ''school'' bag version).
Quite some time ago, I also came across this post from Dinner With Maddie so I thought I would combine all three; what's in my handbag that is also my ''school''/Uni bag and what do the contents of it say about me.

Zara Office City bag, what's in my handbag
First, I have a confession to make: One of my biggest weaknesses are Zara Office City bags. I bought the ''original'' one for my mum (needless to say that I borrow it from time to time), then I bought myself the Citybag with zips which is less structured, a bit smaller and has been my companion for around a year and a half (it's still going strong and it's my ''work'' bag), and in August I bought this years version which I absolutely love and it's my current go-to bag. It's spacious enough for all my crap, it looks sophisticated and elegant, but it can also be ''dressed down'' and has a detachable shoulder strap which is a must for me.
I also really like the fact that it's textured leather, since it won't get scratched so easily and I don't need to be so careful with it. The only thing I would change about it is the silver hardware.
But the thing that keeps me up at night, is that they came out with a few other versions as well (soft city bag, basic city bag, city bag with locks,...) and guess what? Now I want the Office City Bag with Metallic Clasp as well.
I told you I have a problem....

Stationery, Ban.do, agenda
Now onto the things that are currently in my handbag.
The selection of stationery means quite a few things. It means that I'm currently having classes for my master's, that I'm very forgetful and need to write everything down, otherwise I would miss all my classes and work schedules, etc. It also means that I prefer writing things down on paper, and that I'm a sucker for everything cute looking. You never know when a selection of cute sticky notes will come in handy, do you?
The fact that I have so many different pens also means that I like to have different options and that I'm an extremely indecisive person, with everything in life, including the most random things - like pens.

River Island Purse, Samsung Galaxy S4
My large River Island purse tells you that I have a lot of money. Just kidding.
But it does tell you that I like to collect every coupon that I can get my hand on (& that I usually forget to use it up in time) or every ''loyalty'' card and because of that I do need a specious purse. Other random stuff I carry around in my purse consist of a bunch of photos of my friends & family, blisters and some good luck charms.
My Samsung Galaxy S4 shows you that I really am a huge fan of anything that sparkles. You didn't see this one coming, did you? It also tells you that I don't wear a watch and that I get bored easily & need to have a distraction near me at all time (if you want, you can add me on Snapchat, I'm trying to post more stories and not just send random selfies to my friends. My username is sanja_o).

Tissues, snacks, Frutabela
Two packs of tissues tells you that I'm sick and developing a six-pack from all the sneezing and coughing, but also that I have allergies and tend to sneeze all the time any way. I also very rarely sneeze only once which is always ''fun''.
Ebelin Feuchte Tücher (wet wipes) tell you that I'm a ''true'' beauty blogger and that I don't know what going into a drugstore without swatching the majority of make-up means any more.
Frutabela granola bar & Airwaves gum tell you that I'm a snacker and that I can get hangry very easily. It also means that I like to have fresh breathe (I mean, who doesn't?), that Airwaves is my favourite brand of chewing gum, and that I'm a fan of anything minty. It also means that I always have a gum on hand, but if we're in a group of more than two people & you ask me if I have any gum left, I'll for sure say that I don't.
The huge water bottle not only tells you that I drink a lot of water, but also that I tend to drink it whenever I'm bored. I don't know why, but that's just my thing. It also means that I spend a lot of time in my car and you never know when you'll get stuck in traffic or something, so it's important to have some essentials with you.

make-up bag, Essence, Aldo Vandini, Alverde, Zara
The content of my H&M make-up bag just proves that I'm an ordinary woman who carries around a mini survival kit that she barely ever uses. Just need to add a mini sewing kit and I'm good to go.
The selection of pills shows you that I have allergies and the most common health issue I have are a soar throat or a headache. Eye drops and cotton pads & buds tell you that I had a Lasik eye surgery and that I had to use eye drops very regularly, so the cotton pads & buds were used to help with any mascara smudging. It also shows you that I tend to rub my eyes a lot, which sometimes makes them dry and itchy.
Mini comb & a hair tie tell you that I have long hair that are in a ponytail a lot. It can also tell you that I have a lot of hair, which tends to transform into a head sauna, especially in the Summer.
Essence oil control paper, Alverde setting powder and Ebelin angled brush tell you that my skin is oily and that I need to touch up my make-up throughout the day to keep my face matte. The fact that the Essence oil control papers are from a very old limited collection also tells you that I very rarely actually use them.
Another thing that I almost never use but still keep in my bag, is the Essence Cover stick. It can also tell you that I'm quite insecure about my dark under eye circles and you never know when a random pimple might just pop out, so I like to have a concealer with me just in case. The fact that I can't actually remember how long ago I bought it, can also tell you that I'm the worst when it comes to getting rid of make-up according to its expiration date. Not very beauty blogger like.
A selection of perfumes & a deodorant tell you that I like to always smell nice and that I like to collect mini samples. It also means that sometimes even the best deodorant isn't enough for those 12 hours working days.
Aldo Vandini hand cream & QVS nail file show you that my hands get dry very easily and that my nails tend to break at the most inconvenient time. I even keep one nail file in my car.
Three different balmy lip products show you that my lips are currently extremely dry & chapped and that I need all the moisture I can get. The Soap&Glory Sexy Mother Pucker is a great every day nude shade, Labello Care & Colour Red is my current favourite ''pick me up'' lip balm with a nice wash of red colour, and Burt's Bees Replenishing lip balm with pomegranate oil is the lip balm that never leaves my handbag.
Can't forget about the two-side mirror that helps with touching-up on the go.

Since Maddie tagged a few other bloggers to do this and since I think it's an interesting twist on the usual 'what's in my handbag' posts, I tag all of you to do it. Would love to get nosey and see what's in your handbags & what does that say about you.

I hope you enjoyed taking a peek into my handbag and please let me know if you decide to do it.

Katastrofa.. :D
