Products I Want To Use Up

Hello ladies,
welcome to the second week of Blogmas. I can't believe just how fast December is flying by, were almost one blink of an eye away from 2015!

As I've already mentioned a few times, I'm currently in the process of using up my stash of shower gels, body lotions, hand creams, etc. Which is actually going great.
But when I was making room for the new things I bought in London, I noticed that I also have quite a few other beauty & makeup products that I could use up, so today I'll be showing you some of them and telling you all the reasons why I'm trying to use them up.
I still have way too much stuff, but I'm not prepared to part with the majority of them just yet. Who knows, maybe there will be a part 2 of this in the future.

First up is a product that I'm extremely frustrated about; the Ruth Crilly (A Model Recommends) COLAB London dry shampoo.
I haven't heard a single negative thing about this dry shampoo, but I just can't make it work for me.
I love the scent of this version, it smells really classy, like a perfume and I also like the fact that it's almost invisible. It definitely leaves the least white cast of all the dry shampoos that I've tried, but it's still not completely invisible, especially if you use a lot of it.
But this does absolutely nothing for my hair. It doesn't take the greasiness away (which is the main reason why I use dry shampoos), and I've tried using it even when my hair looked just a tiny bit oily, it just doesn't absorb the oils from my hair. A lot of Youtubers and bloggers mentioned that you can use this as a texturising spray as well, but this once again didn't work for me. It just doesn't add any volume or texture to my hair. Whenever I spray this, my hair looks exactly the same as it did before.
I was planning on doing a whole review on this at first, but I just didn't find any use for this dry shampoo other than it does add a nice scent to the hair.
Next up is the L'Angelica 100% Natural Deep Cleansing Mousse. Recently, I stopped buying makeup and started hoarding new skincare, especially different cleansers. When I went through my skincare drawer, I decided that it was time to use up this cleansing mousse. I did a review on it back in February, and I mentioned that I find it to be a bit too drying for me so I kinda forgot about it after that. I still find it too stripping for a daily use so I only use it every now and again because it actually does a good job at removing your makeup. I just need to use a toner right awterwards to help me restore the pH balance and to get rid of that tight feeling. I also avoid using it to remove my eye makeup, although it doesn't irritate them. I was stupid that I didn't use it in the Summer when my skin was more oily.
The Yves Rocher 3min Cranberry Cooling Effect Maks is another 'meh' product. It's not bad at all, but I just don't see any benefits from using it. Luckily it's only a small size (50 ml) so I'll probably use it up fairly quickly. It does smell very yummy and feels refreshing on the face.

I don't really know why I bought Avon's Naturals Cranberry & Cinnamon body spray. Probably because of the cinnamon in the name.
It smells delicious, very fresh yet Christmas-y, but it's again one of those products I don't have a use for. I like to use it on days when I'm just staying at home, just to refresh myself a bit or as a room spray.
Oh, Calvin Klein fragrances, what a love-hate relationship we have.
The same thing always happens to me when I buy a Calvin Klein perfume. I go to the store, I sniff it, I instantly fall in love, use it like a crazy person for awhile, then I start to absolutely hate the scent, I force myself to use it up, a few months or a year passes by and the same process repeats itself.
I got this Euphoria perfume awhile back, as a freebie when I bought the Secret Obsession which I already used up, and I'm currently in the 'force myself to use it up' stage of our relationship with it.
The stupidest thing is that I know that I'll have another Calvin Klein fragrance in my stash sooner or later again (what can I say, I have a thing for dysfunctional relationships)

Now onto the makeup bits.
Since I've been on the hunt for the perfect concealer for a really long time, I managed to collect quite a few ones. Currently I'm trying to get rid of two; Misslyn Concealer in 03 was a big fail from the start. It's too light for my liking, it starts to crease on me after a few hours even if I set it with a powder and the shade itself also looks a bit off on my skin. But I still want to use it up, so I've been using it on days when I'm not wearing any makeup, just to lighten up my dark circles a bit.
The Catrice Camouflage Cream is amazing and I'll probably repurchase it in the future, but I got a bit spoiled with all doe-foot applicator concealers and this one started to feel a bit heavy for my liking. I've been using it with one of those Ebay brushes I mentioned in my November Sparkles because it gives me a lighter application without loosing any coverage, and I can really blend it in with my skin so that it doesn't look cakey. This one is also great for using on blemishes.
You know I love my Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream for combination/oily skin, but I love the Bourjois CC Cream more and I really don't need both since I don't use them on a daily basis any more.
Alverde Kompaktpuder used to live in my handbag, but I decided to switch it up with the Essence All about matt! powder. This isn't a bad powder, but it only keeps me matte for a few hours and I find that I need to re-apply it quite a lot throughout the day. And ever since I tried the Catrice Prime and Fine Mattifying Powder nothing else really compares. It works ok on a day to day basis and as you can see, I'm on a good way to use it up soon (ish).

I've used up quite a few E.L.F. Long Wear Lip Liners in Natural Blush because I absolutely love the shade of it, and the only reason why I'm trying to use up this one, is because I already have a brand new one. I really like these lip liners, they're not drying at all, quite creamy and long-lasting. And cheap.
I've also repurchased a few of Essence Blockbuster eyeshadows in the past, since this was my go-to matte all-over-the-lid shade, but then the Naked Basics and the Naked 2 Basics happened.
The Essence Silky Touch Blush in Adorable has been my blush love for a really long time, but I had it for quite some time now and it's starting to get a bit chalky and it's also not as pigmented as it used to be. I want to try and use it up before I throw it away because I have an unhealthy emotional attachment to my blushes.
I was raving about the Avon Eyeshadow Primer before, but after I used it up quite I bit, I started to get annoyed by the fact that I had to scrape it out with my fingers and kinda forgot about it. It also dried up a bit and the effect just wasn't the same when I applied it with my fingers, but I recently found a way to avoid this; the Ebay brushes came to rescue once more. Now I don't need to dip my fingers in it any more and I can blend it out nicely without it looking chalky or dried up. Although it's a good primer, it still doesn't live up to the Urban Decay Primer potion, and the second reason why I want to use it up is because I want to try the NYX HD Eyeshadow Base.
L'oreal Miss Manga mega volume mascara was featured in my October Sparkles and I absolutely love it, but I currently have three new mascaras in my stash (and of course a tube of The Rocket mascara) and I really don't need so many opened mascaras.

A few swatches (L to R): E. L. F. Lip Liner, Essence eyeshadow (barely visible since it's almost exactly the same as my skin shade), Essence blush, Avon eyeshadow primer, Catrice Camouflage cream, Misslyn concealer.

Which products are you trying to use up?

    1. Meni pa pudri v prahu relativno hitro grejo, ker jih zelo redno uporabljam. Je pa pri blushi pri meni podobno, sem samo pri tem in še enem drugem prišla do dna :)

  4. It is so good (yet so hard) to use what you have! I really struggle with having more than I can reasonably use and not buying tons of new stuff. Glad to see you are working on using up some of that extra stuff that we all have :-)

  5. It's so nice finally using things up even though sometimes it seems to take forever! Such a shame the dry shampoo doesn't work that well for you, I was tempted to try it but I think I'll be sticking with what I know I already like! xo

    1. Yeah, I occasionally get so frustrated about the fact that I can't seem to finish some products that I would really like to get rid of, that I just forget about it and the things keep piling up.
It's a shame yes, but I seem to be the only person who didn't like it that much :D

  6. Hi,
I work on COLAB and this is the first time that I have heard of someone who doesn't get along with the product.
To help us understand why, I would really appreciate it if you could answer a few queries,

    When you use the product do you;
    1) shake the can first
    2) spray 20cm away from the head
    3) massage product in with fingertips to stimulate the absorption of any grease?

Also, what hair type are you?
We'd like to understand why our product isn't working for you as it should be suitable for all hair types and any feedback is invaluable to see if we can improve in any way.

    Thanks so much,
    Rachel

    1. Hi Rachel, I haven't heard any negative comments about it either, but I hope you don't mind that I shared the reasons why it didn't work for me personally.

I do all of the things you're supposed to and my hair is naturally wavy and I do colour it. I also have a slightly greasy scalp, but the rest of my hair is normal with occasionally drier ends.

I hope this helps you and I really appreciate your effort on making it better and approaching me.
