Currently Obsessing Over: Lipsticks

Friday, December 19, 2014

Hello ladies,
how are you on this lovely Friday evening?
We just finished decorating our Christmas tree (finally!) and I'm planning on spending the rest of it catching up with Vlogmas and Blogmas (#wildfridaynight).

I'm not sure if you noticed or not, but I haven't included any lipsticks in my November Sparkles and the reason for that was, I had too many favourite ones.
So today I'm going to talk you through my current favourite lipsticks.

Starting with the bolder shades and the first in line is Essence Longlasting lipstick in On The Catwalk!
I have to admit that I kinda forgot how much I liked these Essence lipsticks and I own quite a few shades.
They feel really creamy and moisturising on the lips, lasts for quite some time and this one leaves an amazing stain after the first layer rubs off.
On The Catwalk is a lovely dark berry red shade with brown undertones, and I really like wearing it since I think shades like this look better on me than bright reds and this one is also easier to pull off as MAC Russian Red for example.
It also makes your teeth look crazily white, which is always a good thing. Since it's so creamy, I like to use a lip liner with it, just to make the application easier and not end up looking like Miranda Sings.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Crush was already featured in my October favourites but I haven't stopped wearing it yet.
It's again one of those shades that make your teeth look whiter and requires a lip liner for an even application and finished look.
It's extremely creamy, balmy and moisturising. I love the minty scent, and the fact that I can build it up or sheer it down as much as I want.
It also leaves the most gorgeous stain, it looks like you've just been munching on some berries.

Catrice Floral Coral was my first shade from their new Ultimate Stay range, but definitely not last. I just bought another one yesterday (All That She Wants) but I have some other shades on my WL as well.
The formula of these is amazing; super creamy, pigmented (I usually apply 2 coats), has a lovely semi matte finish and  is quite long lasting (it survives drinking, but not eating).
They also have a lovely scent and I really like the sleek & simple packaging.
The shade itself is also gorgeous, and although it's quite bright I find it to be one of those shades I'll wear year 'round since it's a bit deeper pink that has a tiny bit of coral undertones.

You know how I was raving about L'oreal L'Extraordinaire Liquid Lipstick?
Well, Maybelline Color Elixir Lip Lacquer kicks that one in the butt.
The packaging itself is gorgeous, and although it's not gold, I kinda prefer it.
It has an amazing perfume-like scent, which I again, prefer. I wish I could find a perfume that smells like this.
The applicator is also much better, it's slightly curved and pointier so the application is a piece of cake and without any streaks.
The consistency is also not as thick as with the L'oreal one, it's almost like applying coloured water on your lips.
This one is also quite glossy (the L'oreal one is glossier), moisturising, but unfortunately not very long lasting. But I didn't even expect it to be.
I have the shade Caramel Infused which is a lovely rosy nude shade that's perfect for absolutely everything. It does need two coats to get the full opaqueness.

I'll admit it; I bought the KIKO Velvet Mat Lipstick mainly because of the gorgeous rose gold packaging. I mean, just look at it! And you have to press it on the top for the lipstick to pop out. You can't judge me.
I got the shade 602 Natural Rose since it looked like a great every day shade and I was right. It's a lovely peachy/rosy nude shade that needs 2 coats to be fully opaque.
On the KIKo site it says that this is an ultra silky, virtually weightless texture that unveils unexpected moisturising and soothing qualities in an opaque and infinitely velvety finish.
And I couldn't describe it better or agree more. This feels so comfortable on the lips that you actually forget you applied a lipstick. Yesterday I had it on for 7 (yes, 7!) hours without re-applying it once, and it survived drinking & eating a snack. After lunch it did disappeared, but that's normal. It also kept my lips feeling nourished even though they're not in the best state after being so sick at the beginning of the week.
Trust me when I say that I'll be getting more shades!

MAC Brave was not my first choice, but I decided to get it since the shade I wanted was sold out.
Now I'm hearing that this is supposed to be one of the 'Kylie Jenner' lipsticks.
I definitely don't want to recreate her lips, since I think she looks absolutely ridiculous, but I can see why someone would love this shade, it's stunning!
It's a satin finish, so it's still very pigmented & long lasting, but more creamy & comfortable to wear than their matte ones.
If you have dry patches or chapped lips, it's better to avoid this one as it does tend to cling to to them. But other than that, I don't have any complaints.
The shade itself is darker and more mauve than the KIKO one, and the consistency is also thicker.

I saved the last for the best.
Honestly, this lipstick is pure perfection, a dream come true. Every good thing you've heard about the NARS Audacious lipsticks is true. But it's better to avoid them because once you try them, there's no going back. At least for me.
I can say without a slight doubt that this is my favourite lipstick ever!
Words cannot describe how creamy and soft this is. When the girl working at the NARS counter first applied it on my lips, the only thing I could say was 'are they really THIS creamy?!' I just couldn't believe it.
They are also extremely pigmented, once swipe & you're good to go, very lightweight, not even a tiny bit drying and the best part, this won't budge from my lips. It survives drinking, eating, and repeating the same process.
I also absolutely love the packaging, it looks so elegant & chick, and just look at that engraved NARS logo. And the closing is MAGNETIC. I love playing around with it when I'm bored and showing it to everyone. Yes, I'm a child.
I think there are 30 shades in the collection and almost all of them are to die for.
My first choice was Anita and I would describe it as a beige rose shade. I couldn't be happier about choosing this shade, since I already got so much wear out of it. Compared to the MAC and KIKO one, this one definitely looks the darkest and the most ''brown'' on my lips. But I can't get enough of shade like this at the moment.
The only downside is the price, but I definitely think you're paying for what you're getting with this one.
Just be aware that this is a very dangerous territory to enter, I haven't stopped adding shades on my wish list since I got this one.

Please share your current favourite lipstick with me.
