Review*: I ♥ Makeup Go to Heaven eyeshadow palette

Tuesday, August 26, 2014

Hello ladies,
the girls from Lič were spoiling me again, and I got another eyeshadow palette in the beginning of August. This time it was the Go to Heaven palette from I ♥ Makeup which is a part of Makeup Revolution brand.
You can get this palette for £6,49 (Makeup Revolution Store) or for 9, 95 € (Lič

I was instantly drawn to this palette, not only because of the gorgeous colour selection, but also because I have never owned a round palette. I was keeping my fingers crossed that everything else would be amazing as well but unfortunately, it wasn't.
The packaging is very simple; plastic yet sturdy, without a mirror or those unnecessary applicators. Although I really like the fact that it is a bit different and round, it's not the most practical for storing.

As you can see, the eyeshadows are designed in an unusual pattern and the smaller ones are actually quite difficult to reach with the brush, especially with a really fluffy one. It's not impossible by any means, but I do think this is worth mentioning since it can get a bit annoying.
There are 19 shades in the palette, of them are matte and the others are shimmery. The colour selection is right up my alley, but it instantly reminded me of the Urban Decay Naked 3 and the Makeup Revolution Romantic Smoked palettes.
I actually found 7 dupes with the Naked 3 and 8 dupes with the Romantic Smoked palette. I was thinking of doing a separate post showing you these dupes and a little comparison. Would you be interested in seeing this?

I was most disappointed by the quality of eyeshadows.
The pigmentation is different with almost every other shade, the majority of the matte ones are very poorly pigmented and you have to layer them up quite a lot. They're also extremely powdery, have a lot of fall out and are a bit chalky.
Shimmery ones are much softer and the pigmentation is better, but not with all of the shades. They do still have quite a bit of fall out, but not as much as the matte ones do.
I do have to say that all of the shades are very easy to blend, which is something I really like.
The eyeshadows started fading after 5 to 6 hours (with a primer) and the shimmery ones left a lot of glitter on my eyes.

Even though I really like the colour selection and the look of this palette, I honestly cannot see myself using it often. I think it's worth splurging on the Naked 3, if you're a fan of rosy shades like these. Or if you want something cheaper, just go for the Romantic Smoked palette, which is actually cheaper than this one, but the quality of the eyeshadows is better.

Have you tried this palette, what do you think about it? Would you like me to do a comparison post with dupes?

  1. Such a shame the pigmentation isn't consistent because all the colours look lovely in the palette <3 xx

    1. Totally agree with you. It would be amazing if the formula of the eyeshadows would be better.

  2. Looks so cool though x

  4. I immediately thought of Urban Decay when I saw the colors in this palette! So beautiful! :)

    1. I did too, and I wasn't wrong when I though there would be some dupes for the Naked 3 :D
