Top Picks for Summer: Blushes

Wednesday, July 09, 2014

Well, hello there.
How are we doing today? I'm feeling great as I got my exam results back and I passed all of them & my cousin had her second baby last night, double hurrah!
Since today was a very gloomy and rainy day here in Slovenia, I decided to get myself (and hopefully you too) into a summery mood by showing you five of my favourite blushes for the Summer.

I'm getting quite good with choosing only a few products, even though I could honestly include at least 5 more blushes, but I didn't want to show you those from different limited editions as they're not available any more.
If you're interested in seeing a few of my other blushes, you can check out my favourite ones for the Spring and Autumn as well.

1. ASTOR Pure color perfect blush in Lovedoll Pink: I already featured this one in my May Sparkles and it's one of those blushes that will look amazing on fair & on tanned skin. I actually cannot wait to get a proper tan to see how this will look on me. Lovedoll Pink screams Summer to me since I always love wearing pinky/coral shades in this time of the year.
As I mentioned in my May Sparkles, the packaging is not the best, but I love the blush so much that this doesn't really bother me.

2. Bourjois Cream blush in 03 Rose Tender: This one was also already mentioned quite a few times on here, but I just had to include it since I'm all about cream blushes in the Summer and this one is amazing. It lasts a really long time, it's very creamy and easy to blend. It does have some glitters in it, but they're not too chunky. The packaging is also very compact and handy to carry around.
I'm actually surprised I haven't hit pan on it yet, because I've been using it non-stop last Summer.

3. Physicians Formula Multi-colored blush in Blushing Peach: Yeah, I know I just talked about it on Monday, but this has truly been my go-to blush recently and I know that this will stay the same for at least one more month. I just love how it looks on me, and it goes perfectly with the E. L. F. bronzer that was also mentioned in my June sparkles.

4. Catrice Defining blush in 070 Pinkerbell: I completely forgot about this one, but I found it last week when I was changing up my every day make-up drawer and been wearing it a few times since then. It's a gorgeous, vibrant fuchsia shade that really brightens up your complexion. I think that this will look even better with a tan than it does on fair skin.

5. Illamasqua Cream blusher in Dixie: The texture of this cream blusher is very different form the Bourjois one; it is still very creamy, but it's a lot softer and more watery. It's also a little bit easier to blend, very pigmented and long-lasting (it last the longest of all of my cream blushes). It has more of a dewy finish.
Dixie is a gorgeous coral shade with some pink undertones (it's not as orange as on the photo) and it's one the warmer side.
It also looks amazing on the lips; just dab it on lightly and you'll get a very natural flush of colour. It also doesn't dry up my lips; perfect for those hot Summer nights.

So I know that I said that I only  have 5 blushes, but I had to include an extra one since I found a dupe for the Illamasqua Dixie.
It's the NYX Rouge Cream blush in 01 Rose Petal. In the pan and swatched on my hand they do look a little bit different (the NYX one being less vibrant and more pinky), but once you blend them together (especially on your cheeks), they look exactly the same.
They do have different formulas, as the NYX one is more waxy, less pigmented and not so long-lasting, but there's quite a price gap between them as well.
Personally, I prefer the Illamasqua one, but I don't think the NYX one is bad either. I will probably be picking up some other shades and giving this one away.

Swatches (L to R): Illamasqua Dixie, Catrice Pinkerbell, Physicians Formula Blushing Peach, ASTOR Lovedoll Pink, Bourjois Rose Tender

What's your favourite blush for the Summer? Let me know.
