My Sick Day Beauty Essentials

Friday, May 09, 2014

Hello ladies,
as I mentioned in my previous post, I'm currently sick and I decided to share my sick day beauty essentials with you today.

Whenever I get sick, my skin gets extremely dry and dehydrated even though I'm drinking so much tea I could apply for British citizenship.
So my main concern is trying to keep my skin as moisturised as I can, and if I have enough energy, maybe even look semi-decent and not scare my family away.

I mentioned in my April Sparkles that I'm extremely bad when it comes to moisturising my face in the mornings, but this week I've been moisturising my face in the mornings like there's no tomorrow. First I apply the Balea Aqua Serum that I normally  use only at night, because I feel like this really helps to lock in the face cream and keep my face hydrated.
On top of that I also use the Yves Rocher Hydra Vegetal 24h Rich Hydrating Cream. I bought this cream in January (I think), when I had some dry patches on my skin and no cream that I owned seemed to be moisturising enough. I stopped using it when the dry patches went away, but currently we're best friends again.
This hydrating cream comes in a glass packaging and is targeted for normal to dry skin. It also claims to have moisture capture botanical saps.
The consistency is almost gel-like and it feels very refreshing and cooling on the face. It also has a very fresh scent that personally I'm not a big fan of, but it doesn't bother me either. It's also lightweight and sinks into the skin very quickly, so it's perfect as a daily moisturiser.
Normally this cream is a little bit too rich and moisturising for my skin, but currently it's a life saver.

The only makeup I'm wearing these days is this Essence Stay all day long-lasting concealer (20 Soft beige). I wouldn't normally wear any makeup when I'm sick, but I only get a few hours of sleep every night as I'm always sneezing & coughing so my under eye circles are out of this world. For some reason we also had visitors every day now and it's always good to look a little bit less dead than you really do/feel.
This concealer doesn't completely hide my dark circles, but I like it because it doesn't creases on me throughout the entire day so I don't have to set it with a powder. It also looks very natural yet brightening on the skin.
I use the Real Techniques Contour brush to blend it in.

Not only does my face get very dry but also my hands. The Avon Care Glycerine hand & nail rich moisture hand cream isn't the best hand cream out there, nor is it something I would use on-the-go as it is quite greasy, but when I'm chilling at home, this does the trick.
Honestly, washing my hair is the last thing I want to do, so I'm eternally grateful for Batiste dry shampoo. Currently I'm using the Blush version, which is not my favourite. I'm not particularity fond of the scent and I also have a feeling this is a little bit whiter than other version I tried, but it still makes my hair look less greasy.

Last but certainly not least, lip products.
Cold is probably the worst enemy of my lips as they turn into a sandpaper and I'm probably reapplying lip-balm of some sort every five minutes. The ones that are working the best at the moment are Labello Classic care and Balea Vaseline. I actually put some Vaseline into empty Figs&Rouge container since the original packaging is way too bulky.
I'm also trying to get rid of all the dead skin on my lips (TIM?) so the LUSH Bubblegum lip scrub is very loved right now.
And  I was actually planning on showing you my top Spring lipsticks today. Oh well...

Hopefully you're all very healthy and more energized than me, but let me know what your sick day beauty essentials are anyway.

Sanja ♥
