Review*: Yves Rocher Hair Care Products

Friday, April 18, 2014

Hello ladies,
today I'll be talking about the Yves Rocher hair care products that we got at their event in December.
I got the shampoo and hair repair oil from their Reparation/Repair line and the conditioner from the Nutrition line. I've been using them for more than a month now, so I think it's time to tell you how I get along with them.

All three products are Paraben, Colorant & Silicone free. They also claimed to care for your hair without making it feel heavy. The conditioner and hair repair oil claim to have more than 99% natural ingredients and the shampoo more than 96%.
The packaging of the shampoo & conditioner is average, but I do really like the packaging of the hair repair oil.
I would also like to add some facts about my hair; my roots are semi-oily and my ends are more on the dry side. My hair can also get frizzy and I have a lot of it. I colour my hair and use heat on it, but I don't have any problems with split ends or damaged hair. My scalp is also extremely sensitive and gets irritated easily.

Now onto individual reviews.

Nutri-repair treatment shampoo; This is meant for very dry or frizzy hair and has jojoba in it. You get 300ml / 10. 1 fl. oz. in this big bottle and it retails for 2, 89€, which is a total bargain.
What they say: Is your hair very dry and/or frizzy? Recover the natural beauty of your hair thanks to this shampoo enriched with organic, nourishing jojoba. It smooths, nourishes and repairs the hair fibre. Your hair is stronger, supple, shiny, and feels really soft.
My opinion: I have to agree. I don't know if it really repairs the hair fibre and makes your hair stronger, but it definitely smooths the hair and makes it shiny and very soft. I actually tried using this without conditioner once, and my hair wasn't tangled at all.
I do, however think that if you have extremely dry hair this won't be enough moisturising for you. Unless you use some heavy conditioner or a hair mask on top.
The shampoo is very creamy and it lathers up extremely well, so you don't need a lot of product to cover all of your hair. I have a feeling that this shampoo will last me a really long time as I only wash my hair twice a week and I also use a purple shampoo.
The best thing, other than that it makes my hair very shiny, is the scent. It smells heavenly and it definitely lingers on your hair.

Nutri-silky conditioner; This is also targeted for dry hair and has oat in it. For 150ml / 5 fl. oz. you'll pay 2, 89€, so the same as for the shampoo. It comes in a sleek packaging.
What they say: Is your hair dry and brittle? Recover the natural beauty of your hair thanks to this organic conditioner with creamy oat milk and nourishing sweet almond oil. It nourishes your hair fibre and gives it more volume. Your hair is easier to detangle, supple, silky and shiny.
My opinion: Unfortunately, I really don't get along with this one. The first thing that instantly puts me off was the scent. It's very, very strong and it smells so bad. I can't really describe it, but luckily it doesn't linger on the hair.
Other than the smell, everything else is pretty bad as well; it makes my hair look and feel very dry, frizzy and my hair is actually more tangled than if I didn't use it.
It's also very thin and you need to use quite a lot of it, so I don't see how this could be enough for someone with dry, even normal hair.
For me, this conditioner sadly does exactly the opposite of what it claims to do.

Hair repair oil: How cute is that little lid? Here, you also get 150ml/ 5 fl. oz. of product and it retails for 7, 63 €. It has babassu, jojoba and macadamia in it.
What they say: This concentrate of rich oils is genuine exceptional treatment, which offers strength to your hair. Intensely nourished, your hair is ultra soft and shiny. Apply twice a week to dry hair before shampooing, concentrating on the entire length of hair. Leave on for 10 minutes. Wash hair.
My opinion: This is my favourite product of the bunch and I'll definitely be repurchasing it once I run out.
Again, it does what it claims and smells the same as the shampoo. I definitely wouldn't mind having a perfume with this scent.
I love how it instantly makes my hair look so healthy and shiny without weighing it down. It's like a face lift, but for your hair. It also doesn't make my roots more oily, as it washes off really nicely.
I use it once a week and I leave it on for as long as I feel like, normally around half an hour. Even though my hair is quite long, I don't need to use a lot of the product to cover the entire length of my hair, which is a big plus.

List of ingredients from top to bottom:
Nutri-repair treatment shampoo
Nutri-silky conditioner
Hair repair oil

I also want to mention that none of these make my scalp itchy or irritated and they also didn't give me dandruff, which is a plus.
I would definitely recommend you the Nutri-repair treatment shampoo and hair repair oil, especially the oil, but I would stay away from the Nutri-silky conditioner.

Have you tried any of these products? Share your opinions.

  4. I have been using Yves Rocher since 10 months and was very happy of using 99% natural and silicon free product. But I started getting hair falls , seeing everyhwere my hair. At the same time, I heard my friends complaining about they are having hair loss too and were using Yves Rocher hair products. :(
