First Impression: Alverde LE Vintage Rose Reinigungs-puder (cleansing powder)

Friday, February 07, 2014

Hello ladies, first I would like to thank you for such an amazing feedback on my last post, I'm glad to see that you loved that NOTD as much as I do.

Now onto today's post. It's actually another one that I wasn't planning on writing. As I said in my January beauty buys I'm trying to stay away from buying make-up, but on Wednesday I saw that the Alverde LE Vintage Rose collection (here's a preview) was available in our drugstores and I couldn't resist the blushes and this Reinigungs-puder aka cleansing powder.
I was very intrigued by it and decided to do a first impression on it.

It comes in this quite small and compact bottle/tube that's very easy to squeeze. You get 40g of product and I think it retails for around 4€ (I'm not sure, since I can't find the receipt). I actually quite like the packaging and the roses add a nice touch.

When you open it, it looks the same as the baby powder, but it has a stronger and more perfumed smell. The scent is not overpowering, it's not too floral, but it's quite sweet, I really like it actually.
The thing that bothered me from the start, is the fact that everything is written only in German. I know that Alverde is a German brand for Drogerie-markt, but I still think that it would be great if there was an English translation as well.

You're supposed to apply a small amount of powder in your hand, add a little bit of water and massage it onto your face, avoiding your eye area then rinse it off with warm water.
First problem I had with it, was not knowing how much powder is enough and I think you actually need quite a lot of product for cleaning your entire face.
The second thing I didn't like, is the fact that the application is really messy since you have to mix it in your hands first and then transfer that to your face, which also means it's quite time-consuming.
You also need to be really careful you don't mix too much water with the powder, otherwise you'll just wash away the product. Again, probably not something you're happy to do every time after a long day.

It claims to gently cleanse  your skin and remove your make-up. It's suitable for oily and fatigue skin.
As you can see on the photo above, it completely removed the eyeliner but there were still traces of the lipstick.
As it says that you have to avoid your eye area, I didn't even try to remove my eye makeup with it, but I did try it on my face. Was I impressed? Not really.
It did remove my blush and bronzer but it failed to remove my foundation. I was wearing True Match from L'oreal and even after two washes with this cleansing powder, there were still foundation marks on my towel.
It does, however, leave your skin feeling very smooth and soft and it doesn't dry up your skin or make it feel tighten.

To me, this was a disappointing purchase and I wouldn't recommended getting it. In my opinion it's too messy and time-consuming to use on a daily basis, especially since it doesn't remove all of your makeup and you'll probably use it up really quickly.
I think I'll use it on days when I'm only wearing a little bit of concealer and some blush, or whenever I'm not wearing any makeup because I just can't be bothered with using a different eye makeup remover, then following with this cleansing powder and on top of that, using another cleanser to completely remove all of the makeup.

Have you tried this? If so, was your experience any different?

Bom razkrila vsebino škatle ;) Sicer ne vem točno kdaj, ker mi bo verjetno vzelo ogromno časa, če bom želela po-swatchat vse, ampak obljubim, da bo :)
