Best makeup buys of 2013

Saturday, January 11, 2014

Hello ladies,
as you probably already saw, I did my Best beauty buys of 2013 on Tuesday and now it's time that I also show you my favourite makeup products.

As I already mentioned in my last post, I won't be reviewing products into details, but let me if you want a review on something that I haven't already talked about. I'll be referring to some products in general, but there will also be some specific shades mentioned.
If you're interested, here are also my 2012 favourites.

Now grab yourself a cup of tea, a snack and make yourself comfortable, because this one will be along one as well.

1. LIPSTICKS

  •  Maybelline ColorSensational Vivids: These are one of the most pigmented and vibrant lipsticks that I own. You can see two of them here.
  • L'oreal Caresse: The Mauve Cherie is definitely one of my most worn lipsticks of 2013 and the Rebel red is just the perfect every day red. Will definitely be getting a few new shades this year. I talked and swatched them here and here
  • Essence Long lasting favourites: I actually don't own any lipstick from Essence old range, but these ones are amazing. I'm looking forward to seeing the new shades they're realising this year. You can see some shades here and here.
  • Revlon Colorburst Lip butters: I actually bought my first lip butter in 2012, but this year I got two shades more. I like the formula, I like the colour pay off, they're fuss free lip product, great for quick touching up.

  • Lip crayons, lip creams, lip stains: or however you want to call them. These are by far my favourite makeup discovery of 2013. I'm completely obsessed with these things and I can't stop buying them. I obviously don't need to address the fact that there is more of them hiding in my apartment in Ljubljana. Seriously, if you don't own a lip crayon/lip cream, you need to run to the drugstore now. I was obsessing over lip crayons in this post and you can see swatches from some others here, here and here.

And now some specific shades:

  • Max Factor gold lipstick in Pomegranate: I actually can't believe I haven't featured this one in my favourites already. It's very creamy, pigmented, it has a lovely shine to it and it's quite long lasting. It's this lovely deep fuchsia shade and I love wearing it year round.
  • MUA lipstick in the shade 15 Juicy: One of my favourite shades for summer. You can see it here.
  • Chanel Rouge Coco shine Hydrating colour lipshine in Saga (79): This one was as the MUA one also featured in my Top picks for Summer, but I have been wearing in a lot in these past months as well.

2. BLUSHES

  •  Cream blushes: Another great discovery of 2013. I definitely need/want to get more, they're just so easy to use and, in my opinion, look the most natural on the cheeks. You can see it here, here and here.

  • E.L.F. Baked blush in Passion Pink: Seriously stunning shade. Talked about it here.
  • M.A.C.  Pro longwear blush in Stay Pink: One of my favourite purchases from Paris and I didn't even have it on my WL. Swatched.
  • Illamasqua Powder Blusher in Morale: I take my blushes very seriously and I treat this one like my baby. It was featured in my Top picks for Autumn.

3.  It's all about the EYES:

  •  Maybelline 24hr Colour Tattoos: Life and time savers for early mornings. I talked about them here and here.
  • L'oreal Color Infallible: The pigmentation of these is out of this world. Talked about them here, and here.

  • Maybelline the Rocket mascara: The only mascara I repurchased the second I ran out of it. It gives me volume, it separates my lashes, holds the curl and most importantly, makes my lashes super long.
  • Revlon Grow Luscious Plumping mascara: I actually didn't buy this one myself, but I had to include it, because I don't know how, but this mascara keeps getting better and better with every use. I reviewed it here.
  • Avon Eyeshadow primer: I'm loving this, it works as great as the UD Primer potion does, except it's much cheaper. Here is the review.
  • Catrice Camouflage cream and L'oreal Touche Magique concealer: I decided to combine these two because they're both my favourite concealer and they both were featured in the same blog post.

This past year I really got into shaping my brows. These are my favourite brow purchases of 2013:
  • Alverde Clear eyebrow gel: This was my first eyebrow gel and when I ran out of it I picked up the Essence one because a lot of girls seem to love it. After using that one for awhile, I can say that I prefer this one, since it's not as wet and I think it also works better with keeping my brows in place.
  • Artdeco Eye brow pencil in 6: The perfect shade for my brows and the pencil works great. I talked about it in my November favourites.
  • E.LF. eyebrow kit in Ash: The perfect pair for the Artdeco pencil. This one was also featured in my favourites in July.

  • Naked Basics: I talk about this one a lot. I'm actually very surprised I haven't already hit pan on any  of the shades since I've been using it almost every day ever since I got it. You can see it here and here.
  • Naked 3: The newest product of the bunch, but the most beautiful one. I raved about it in my first impression.
  • M.A.C. Woodwinked: Gorgeous, gorgeous eyeshadow that will make your eyes pop. See it here.
  • Sleek Vintage Romance: My first, but most definitely not last Sleek palette. Here is the review.

4. POWDERS and BRONZER:

  • E. L. F. Contouring blush and bronzing duo St. Lucia: This year I also started contouring and for that I've been loving this duo from E.L.F. This was also in my November favourites.
  • Essence All about Matt! Loose fixing powder: Oh my, words can't describe how much I love this. And it's going to be DISCONTINUED. I actually just bought a backup this week, and you can read my thought on it here.
  • Rimmel Stay matte powder in Transparent: Before I discovered the Essence one, this was the bomb for me. I still like it very much, but I do think that the Essence one is slightly better.

And these were my favourite makeup products of 2013. What was your favourite makeup product last year? Let me know.

    1. I would say, definitely. They're crazy pigmented yet easy to blend, not powdery at all and they have some unique shades. I would say go for it :) Ah, thanks, I'm happy to hear that :)

    1. Ah, don't even get me started on my ability to make decisions. That's why I mostly stick to the same lipsticks all the time and have to remind myself that I need to use other shades too :)

    1. Thanks Astrid and you should definitely try the ELF blush, I really like it and it's so affordable. They truly are amazing, right? It's a shame we don't have a better colour selection here in Slovenia :)

  5. Kremna rdečila so odličnih odtenkov:) Meni pa ta Grow Luscious Revlon maskara ni bila niti malo všeč. Pa tudi nobenega učinka rasti nisem videla:.
