First Impression: KIKO Long lasting Stick eyeshadow and Rimmel Scandaleyes eyeshadow paint

Wednesday, November 13, 2013

This post has been a long time coming. I wanted to write it for so long, but I just never got around of actually testing both products and writing my opinions down. Well, I finally manage do it.
So today we're going to talk about the KIKO Long lasting Stick eyeshadow and Rimmel Scandaleyes eyeshadow paint. I decided to combine these two together because both products are very similar and both promise to be very long lasting.

I applied both products without an eyeshadow primer because I was curious to see if they would really how long would they last on my oily eyelids. I also didn't add any other eyeshadow on top and I removed both of them after wearing them for 8 hours.

KIKO Long lasting stick eyeshadow in nr. 05 Rosy Brown: The first thing I noticed was the sleek packaging. It instantly reminded me of E.L.F. Studio Matte lip colours. I also really like the fact that you don't have to sharpen it, you just twist it up.
The product itself is very creamy and it glides on your eyelids very smoothly. Since it's so creamy, it's extremely easy to blend or smudge. I tried applying and blending it with my fingers and with a brush, but I think that it works better if you use your fingers. It's also easily buildable.
I also really like the fact that it can be used as an eyeliner, it especially looks very nice smudged under your lower lash line.

Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeshadow paint in Rich Russet: This one, on the other hand, looks like a lipgloss. It also has this flat, dofa applicator.
The consistency is not too runny nor too thick and it feels very cold when you apply it on your lids.
With this one, I found that you have to be quite quick with blending, because it dries very fast. I also prefer blending this one with my fingers.
It's also buildable, but not as much as the KIKO one.

The KIKO eyeshadow is a little bit more pigmented and opaque, and I think that the Rimmel one would work better used as an eyeshadow base or for a quick and natural every day eyeshadow.
I think that both products are a great option for days when you're running late, but you still want to look put together.

As you can see (you can see better if you click for bigger photos), the KIKO eyeshadow is this bronzy, brown, with some pinkish tones, shade (as I would describe it)  that is very sparkly. In my opinion this is more of an evening shade, or a shade to use when you just need that extra sparkle in your life.
Rimmel eyeshadow paint is more bronzy looking, and it also has a lot less shimmers in it.

Both products lasted 8 hours on my oily eyelids, without any primer, without creasing or smudging. I do think that the Rimmel is a little bit more long lasting, just because the KIKO one started to fade a little bit after 5 hours and it started to look even more shimmery. But other than that, it also lasted 8 hours without creasing, which in my opinion is very impressive.

All in all, I'm very impressed with both and I know they'll become a staple in my make up bag. I really hope Rimmel comes out with some more shades, because I don't think that the current choice of shades  is all that great. And I'm definitely getting a shade or two more, whenever I'll be near a KIKO store.

Have you tried the Rimmel eyeshadow paint or the KIKO stick eyeshadow? Share your thoughts.

  1. Great comparative review! I have the golden shade of the Rimmel. As you rightly say it dries quickly, but then I have found it lasts for hours! Have yet to try the Kiko.
