Review: Avon Planet Spa Face masks #1

Tuesday, July 23, 2013

I wanted to review Avon Planet Spa face masks for ages, but I just never got around to actually reviewing them. I currently own five face masks from the Planet Spa range, today I'm going to review three of them, and on Friday the other two.

The Planet Spa face masks come in a tube and you get 75ml of the product. The price of these face masks is around 11€, but they're normally on offer, currently you can get them for around 6-7€.  They have different masks for different skin types and skin ''problems''.
Other than these five that I own, I also tried the Mediterranean Olive Oil Hydrating one, but I didn't like it, since it didn't do anything for my skin.
I really like masks from this range because none of them broke me out and I have a very sensitive skin and with every one that I own, I can see instant improvements on my skin.

Turkish Thermal Bath Rhassoul clay face mask
What they say:  Lifts out dirt and removes excess oil. Apply a thin layer to your face, let dry for 5 minutes, or until masks turns pink. Rinse thoroughly.

My opinion: The first thing I notice, is the smell. It's smells divine, I'm not good at describing scents, but I would say that this smells kinda spicy, oriental. The consistency is not very thick, but it's ticker than the Thailand Lotus Flower one. As you can see, it looks kinda gross, but once it's dry, it looks fine. As Avon claims, it turns pink. It felt a little bit tingly on the few pimples I had at that time. When the mask is dry, it's very tight. You can't really smile or talk (that's the reason I look so lifeless on the right picture).
When you rinse it off, it turns into this very smooth consistency, so it just glades off your face. The smell of the mask lingers on your skin, and my sister always asks which perfume I'm wearing when I use this mask.
Your skin feels fresh and smooth after using this. I did notice a little bit of redness on my cheeks and some dry patches chin, which stayed the same the next day.
The next day, my pores were less visible and my skin felt tighter - in a good way. It kept my T-zone oily free for the next couple of days.
I use this one whenever I feel like my skin is getting very oily and just need that extra push to look fresh and plump. If you have dry skin, don't buy this one.

Thailand Lotus Flower
What they say: Deep pore cleansing face mask. Helps to lift out dirt, debris and excess oil without over-drying, leaving skin feeling soft and revived. Apply a thin layer, leave for 5 minutes, rinse thoroughly and pat dry.

My opinion: This one has a very thin, almost watery consistency. It has floral smell, which I don't love, but it's not overpowering. It has a very cooling effect on your skin and after it dries, it doesn't get very tight. In the process of drying, you can actually see blackheads coming out, which is gross, but satisfying at the same time, since you know that it's actually working.
After you remove it, your skin will feel very soft and your pores will be tighter. The next day, pores are less visible and I also had less blackheads on my nose and chin.
I use this one when I have major blackheads or I feel like my pores are clogged. It really doesn't dry out your skin, so this one would be great for everyone who has problems with blackheads and visible pores, even if you have dry skin.

Japanese Sake and Rice
What they say:  Smoothing face mask. Peel away mask removes dry, dull skin cells to reveal brighter, more radiant looking skin. Apply sufficient amount of mask on your dry face and let it dry up completely for about 20 minutes then carefully peel it off.

My opinion: This is one of my favourites just because it's so fun to peel it off afterwards.  It's very, very thick and it makes the application quite difficult. It doesn't really have any distinctive scent, but you can smell the alcohol in it. It gives you a little bit of a tingly feeling, but it's not disturbing and it doesn't hurt. It get very tight, even more than the Turkish Thermal Bath one but it's completely smooth when dry.
You can see these small holes on the places I had the largest pores and blackheads. When you peel it off, you can see blackheads on the mask and you're skin feels extremely smooth, like a baby's bum
The next day I had less blackheads, my skin was very smooth and healthy looking, and it wasn't dry at all.
I use this one a lot in the winter, because my skin gets more dry and I need that extra radiance. I also think that this one would be great for every skin type, because who doesn't like looking radiant and having a smooth skin.

I hope you've enjoyed reading this and stay tuned for the part two on Friday.

  2. Uuuu... moram probat Tajsko in Turško. :)
