Disappointing products #2

Friday, July 19, 2013

As I said on Wednesday, today is going to be part two of disappointing products and it is time for makeup products. I have some products here that are raved about and I mainly bought them because I heard a lot of great things, so I know this can be a little bit controversial, but just because they didn't work for me, doesn't mean that they won't work for you.
So without further ado, here are some makeup products that I regret buying.

NYX Jumbo eye pencil: I have it in the colour 630 Cashmere and the colour itself is gorgeous, but the product is awful. It creases like crazy on me and it doesn't make any difference if I put primer underneath or not. I tried everything, putting other eyeshadows on top - the result was creased eyeshadow, I tried wearing it on it's own - again creasing. If I wear it on my waterline or lower lash line, it smudges. I don't know if I have such oily eyelids or I just had bad luck with it, or what, because I hear only good things about this product.

Catrice Prime and fine smoothing refiner for invisible pores and lines: I bought this ages ago and it does makes your pores less visible, but it doesn't really make them invisible. I also think it clogs my pores and it kind of makes my foundation slip off. It just feels weird when you have it on.

Oriflame Lip impact crayon: Again, I love the colour of it (mine is in Striking rose), it smells amazing and it's very creamy. But it's a pain in the ass to apply and even if I use a lip liner with it, after some time it will start to bleed like crazy. It's a shame because I love the colour, so if you have any tips on how to prevent bleeding lipstick, do let me know.

E. L. F. lipstick in Natural Nymph: I already told you that I bought this because it's supposed to be a dupe for M.A.C. Creme d' Nude and I love my nude lipsticks, but this one is too much. I just have to apply this and I instantly look dead. It's a shame because I really like the formula, will definitely be buying some other, brighter shades of these lipsticks.

Body & Soul fan brush: I don't own any Body&Soul brushes, so when they had an offer on them, I decided to pick up their fan brush. The bristles on the brush are so harsh, when I used this to apply the highlighter, it seriously made my face hurt. Because the bristles are so hard, it doesn't even pick any product on the brush, so it doesn't really do anything. I did wash it a few times, because I thought that it would get softer after a few washes, but it didn't.

 E. L. F Eyelid primer: The product itself is great, it really keeps my eyeshadows in place, they don't crease or smudge and they last the whole day. The problem I have with this product is the colour (Champagne), or I should say the glitters in it. There are some serious glitters in it, and they become more and more visible once you start blending the product in. It doesn't really matter if you're doing some sparkly, going out makeup look, but it's a big miss for everyday use. At least for me it is.

Maybelline The Falsies volum' express mascara: Another hyped product that I dislike. It's really black, which is a good thing, but that's about it. It smudges on me, it makes my lashes look spidery, it clumps them together, it doesn't give them any volume or length. I also think that the wand is far too bendy.  A big disappointment for me.

Maybelline Color tattoo: The only problem I have with this one, is the colour (Pink Gold). I find it to be too pink and for the life of me, I just can't make it work. I saw a tutorial on someone's blog that I still need to try, because I really want to use it, since I'm completely in love with the On and on bronze. If you have any tips for this one, again, let me know.

Avon Super shock gel eyeliner: I heard so many great things about the Avon Super shock eyeliners that I had to have them. Since I don't use black eyeliners, I decided to buy that one for my Mom and I went for the one in Flash. It worked amazingly, until I had to sharpen it. Now the tip just brakes off the second I sharpen it, it's too soft, it looks like it's melted or something. It's weird because my Mom doesn't have any problems with sharpening hers so I don't know what's wrong with this one. I still use it, but for highlighting my brow bone, since it's too soft to use on my waterline.

Oriflame lipstick, Nyx jumbo eye pencil, E.L.F. lipstick

Maybelline Color Tatoo, Avon eyeliner, E.L.F. primer

So this was part two of disappointing products. If you have any tips and tricks for the Maybelline Color Tattoo and Oriflame lipstick, please let me know.

Have a great weekend.

  10. I agree that Jumbo eye pencils are a great disappointment.. When it comes to Maybelline Color Tattoo maybe you should use it as a base color for a medium dark brown shade to help brown standout? just an idea...
