Himalaya under eye cream vs. Afrodita Hydra Thermal eye cream

Tuesday, March 05, 2013

Today I'll do a comparison review of two eye creams that I've been using recently; Under eye cream from Himalaya and Hydra Thermal eye cream from Afrodita.

L to R: Himalaya eye cream and Afrodita eye cream

 Blended into skin

 Afrodita Hydra Thermal eye cream

What they claim; Afrodita Hydra Thermal natural mineral water + Hyaluronic acid eye cream against first wrinkles, dark circles and puffiness. Embodies a distinctive eye area skin moisturising concept; unique natural mineral water with the added power of 100% natural hyaluronic acid enables an intensive transfer of moisture into the skin and its dispersal into deeper skin layers. Beta glucan and aloe vera superbly moisturise your skin, firm the skin tissue and help smooth the first fine lines. The appearance of dark circles and puffiness is reduced, your skin is firm, smooth and 'protected' against premature ageing.
Paraben, paraffin, silicone free. No preservatives added.

Himalaya Herbals under eye cream
What they claim; Himalaya Under Eye Cream is for naturally beautiful eyes. It contains proven & safe blend of herbs specially created to care for the delicate area around your eyes. It prevents the formation of under eye dark circles. It clear under eye circles, pigmentation and blemishes. It also brightens & smooths the area around your eyes.
Visible Results:
Reduces dark circles by 80% in just 4 weeks
Reduces under eye wrinkles & fine lines by 28% in just 4 weeks
Brightens & smooths eye contour.
It's also fragrance free and suitable for contact lens wearers.

My opinion: Both products are 15 ml / 0,53  fl. oz. The packaging is on the other hand quite different; The Afrodita one is quite bulky so it's not very convenient for carrying around. It also has a pump applicator, so that means that you can't really get all the products out of the tube. The Himalaya packaging is smaller and you just squish the tube to get the product out.
Both creams don't really have any distinctive smell. The Himalaya cream is more of a thick consistency, where the Afrodita one is more watery and that for absorbs into the skin quicker.
I find that after using the Afrodita one, my skin is more firm but I didn't noticed any difference with my dark circles. I also noticed that it irritates my eyes if I apply the cream close to the waterline, and in the morning my eyes feel quite dry. To me, this is really surprising since they claim that the cream is mostly based on natural mineral water.
The Himalaya one really helped with my dark circles even if I used it just once a day (you should use it twice). It doesn't irritate my eyes at all and my eyes don't feel dry. But I didn't noticed any difference with my fine lines.
After the application your skin feels very soft and smooth, where with Afrodita one, your skin is smooth but feels more tightened.

Since currently my main concern are the dark circles and not the fine lines and first wrinkles, I prefer the Himalaya eye cream. But after all, I think that both creams are very good and they are affordable, which is always a bonus with me. I think that I'm going to use the Himalaya one at night and the Afrodita one for days that I don't wear make up, since it absorbs so quickly and doesn't leave any greasy residue after applying it.
