Products I regret buying in 2012

Thursday, January 24, 2013

To conclude with this 2012 posts I present you some of my foolish beauty buys I've made. Don't be fooled into thinking that this is all, I've made a lot of bad decisions last year when it came to make up (and most of other aspects of my life, to be honest), but I already threw or gave away a lot of them.

L to R: Avon Glamour eyes and Kiko single eyeshadow in Nr. 142

The Avon eyeshadow palette was the products of convincing myself that I should get into more smokey looks and that this purple-ish colours would be perfect for that and will look good on me. Well, I was wrong. I find the colour gorgeous, that's the reason I still have it, but I just don't know how to make them wearable.
Pink Kiko eyeshadow was just a ''must have'' in my buy-everything-that's-not-too-expensive-you're-in-London mood. I was going to throw it away but then me and my friend came up with the idea that it would be a nice highlighter since it's not too pigmented and you can blend it out really nicely. So we'll see how that goes.

L to R:  Avon quartet in Mystery, Revlon matte lipstick in Nude attitude and Garnier BB cream in Light

I'm such a compulsive buyer when it comes to Avon. I just want/need to have everything that looks nice. I know I won't use this one, but it's just too beautiful to throw away. I have the exact same brown colour in my other palette, that I showed in my Favorites. The pink and pink-coral one are so badly pigmented and the purple-ish one is just, you know, purple :)
Don't ask me why I bought the lipstick, I don't have anything to say in my defense. It's just not working with my skin tone, it makes me look like I'm really, really sick and it makes my lips all dried out and chopped. I sometimes use it if I want to make another colour on my lips pop out more.
I bought the BB cream when they came out in Slovenia (before the one for oily skin) and at first I didn't have a problem with it, but then it made my skin look like I was putting oil on my face and it didn't give any coverage at all. I still use it sometimes, if I'm in a hurry or if I'm going to the store or something like that, but I have to set it with a lot of powder.

L to R: Garnier Caffeine Eye Roll on, Avon Protecting Pomegranate eye gel, E.L.F. under eye concealer & highlighter,
E.L.F Shimmer palette and eye shadows in Ivy, Kiko lipstick pencil in Nr. 203 and Catrice gel eyeliner

The first two products I bought in my desperate yet unsuccessful need for getting rid of my under eye circles, I already threw them away. I won't even talk about the other products, I'm just going to give them a big, fat NO!
L to R: E.L.F. Daily brush cleanser, Accessorize lip balm duo in Rose and Raspberry

This daily brush cleanser is the worst thing EVER. I've used it just once and it made my brushes all sticky, greasy and all the bristles were stuck together.
Right there in the worst corner are the lip balms. I admit, I bought them just because of the packaging, and that is the reason I'm going to keep them - they look really cute on top of my make up  ''vanity''. They are really sticky and they smell awful, especially the Rose one.
L to R: Colgate Play mouth wash, Essence Pure skin anti-spot 4in1 cream wash, Dove Invisible dry deodorant,
Nivea Max Volume twist mascara

The Colgate mouth wash has the most terrible, disgusting taste ever. I almost threw up when I tasted it. Long gone in the trash.
The Essence cream wash was rubbish, when I washed my face, I still had traces of foundation on my towel and it didn't make any difference on my skin, it actually made my pores more visible. I also didn't like the moisturizer from the same line.
Dove Invisible dry, yea right, I had huge white stains on every shirt.
I don't even remember when I bought the mascara, I'm not even sure it was in 2012, I just found it when I was cleaning out some drawers and there it was. But I remember that I didn't like it, and the whole 3 twist options were just full of crap.

  1. Sorry to hear you we're disappointed by these products. I was going to buy the Garnier roller under eye product. What didn't you like about it?

    1. It happens :)
It didn't work for me, it irritated my eyes and when I started using it every day I had even bigger and darker under eye circles. I don't know, maybe it will work for you but I wouldn't recommended it, i don't think it's worth the money :)
