Beauty favourites of 2012

Friday, January 25, 2013

I'm officially back, yay :) Things cooled down a little bit since the first semester is over and I don't have classes for a month, just exams.
I know that this post is quite late but I really want to do this and also the things I regret buying in 2012 which will be up on Thursday.

Without further ado, this are my beauty favourites:

L to R: Ebelin angled brush, Real Techniques blush brush, E.L.F. blending brush, Essence eyeshadow brush, Max Factor eyelash curler

I don't really have much to say about brushes. I use the first one for contouring and sometimes for highlighting and I've already mention the blush brush before. I really like the E.L.F. brush for blending, it's really good even though it's so cheap. Mine started to shed a little bit after a few washes, but nothing major. I must say that I freaking love the eyelash curler, it's great.
L to R: Manhattan perfect adapt foundation in Rose beige, Kiko eye primer, Essence cover stick in True nude,
Garnier BB cream for oily skin in Light, Rimmel wake me up concealer in Ivory

On a daily basis I use BB cream because I don't like wearing heavy foundations all day. I tend to wear foundations only when I go out or somewhere ''special'' or if I have some major breakouts. I like this one because it's not too heavy, but you can build it up and get a full coverage.
I already raved about the BB cream, the primer and the Rimmel concealer, so I won't be repeating myself.
The Essence cover stick was one of my first make up purchases and it has stayed in my collection since then. I can't remember how many times I've repurchased it. I know it's not the best corrector/concealer out there but I really like the consistency of it and it has a nice coverage. I don't use it to cover my under eye circles, because I prefer liquid concealers for that, but it's perfect for concealing any breakouts.

L to R: Manhattan Go big lashes mascara, YSL Shocking mascara, Maybelline Illegal length mascara

These ones were my most used mascaras in 2012. The Maybelline one is now almost dried out and I tend to reached out for the Loreal Telescopic one more lately, but since I got it in December it wasn't really fair to include it :)
I liked mascaras that really lengthen my lashes and I prefer those ones that have a plastic wand. I would really recommended the Manhattan one, it's really great and I'm thinking of repurchasing it. The YSL one was a total splurge and I wouldn't repurchase it, even though I really like it (I'm going to purchase the Benefit They're real mascara instead). I bought it mainly because I've read so many good things about it and I wanted to treat myself a little bit :)

Top to bottom: Avon Mocha latte quartet, Essence single eyeshadow in Blockbuster and Naked palette

I use the Avon quartet almost every single day, it just has the perfect colours for daytime look and the pigmentation is great. On top of the primer I always apply some nude eyeshadow so the colours blend more nicely. I really like the Essence one and I think that this is my third one.
What new can I say about the Naked palette? Nothing really, if you like this kind of colours, this is the perfect palette for you. It's worth every single penny. I'm already saving for the Naked 2 and the Basic palette.
L to R: Avon bronzing pearls in warm, E.L.F. studio blush in Tickled pink

The bronzing pearls were also one of my first beauty products and I repurchased them a few times as well. I really like how they give you the perfect natural, summer looking glow. In the summer when I was tanned, I used them instead of the blush, and I think it looked really nice. And the award for my favorite and most used blush goes to E.L.F. Tickled pink. I just love this pinky toned blush, it's perfect for every day use, and the pigmentation is also quite amazing. I've already repurchased a back up one :)

Top swatches are without flash, from L to R: Loreal Causse in Mauve cherrie, Alverde lipstick in Plum berry,
Deborah RossettoMilanoRed Nr. 6

I've used the Loreal lipstick so so much,  it's my every day lipstick and I really like that it's so moisturizing. Sometimes I have to remind myself that I have some more that I should also wear.
In the summer I switched between the Alverde one and the Deborah one. I don't wear the Deborah one now that I'm pale, because I think that it doesn't suit me, but I can't wait to get a tan, because it's a gorgeous colour and it looks super nice and girly.

Victoria's secret fragrance mist in Coconut passion and Calvin Klein Secret obsession

In the summer I wore the Victoria's secret mist to death. It's really long lasting and you don't need to spray much of it. I terrible at describing smells so I won't even try to describe it but I found this at the Victoria's secret page; Seduce with Coconut Passion, a rendezvous of rich vanilla and warm coconut.
I really like Calvin Klein's perfumes and I've had this one for over 2 years now. When I got it I was literally obsessed with it, but then I couldn't stand the smell of it. Last year I started to like it again and now it's finally/sadly empty. It is described as; an intense floral/oriental fragrance that is sultry and addictive. Between love and madness is the secret of this intoxicating scent, with its complex blend of exotic plum, mace, rose de damas, egyptian jasmine, french orange flower, spicy orchid, ylang, tuberose, moroccan cedarwood, wormwood, cashmere woods, burnt amber, madagascan vanilla, australian sandalwood, florentine orris root.
I must say that I wouldn't wear it in the summer time, just like I don't wear the Coconut passion now in winter. Don't ask me why, because I don't know, I'm just weird like that.
Top: Maybelline forever strong Pro in Lilac charm and Max factor Fantasy fire (on my ring finger), Flomar supershine in Nr. 33
Bottom: O.P.I. Meet me on the star ferry, Loreal color richie in Perle de jade, Essence color&go in Viva la green (on my second finger)

And last but not least my favorite nail polishes. It was really hard to decide so I just went with 4 of them. I like wearing purple/violet nails all around the year and the top left picture is just one example. Nail polish in the top right was one of my most worn in the summer and I haven't heard of or seen this brand before (I bought it when we were at the sea side in Croatia), but I really like that it's neon pink - perfect summer shade.
And my perfect winter/autumn shade is the O.P.I. one, which I bought by mistake, but I'm so glad that I did.
